2021-22 Events

Parent Edge is proud to partner with Challenge Success, a non-profit affiliated with the Stanford University Graduate School of Education, for this year's programming. Challenge Success provides a research and evidence-based approach to their work, which has been transformative in helping schools, parents and students rethink their definitions of "success."

As we all return to school culture after a year of pause, we hope to examine and embrace a broader definition of success that will have a positive and lasting impact on the student experience on Mercer Island. Join us for some on-going conversations informed by experts in the field to help center the voices of our most important stakeholders - our kids.

"I Wish..." Project

Ongoing

Elementary, middle and high school students were invited to share thoughts and feelings they wish their parents, teachers, and peers/friends knew.

This project provides the opportunity to center our kids’ voices. When students are invited to anonymously express their thoughts and concerns to guided prompts, parents, administrators, teachers, and staff are truly able to hear and act to value their voices.  With open minds and hearts, we can learn and grow as a community to best support our kids going forward.

> Click HERE to hear MIHS student voices.  "I Wish..." responses are also being collected from elementary and middle school students.  Stay tuned for more!

Girls with Bright Futures - Book Discussion

Wednesday, January 26, 2022 @ 6:30PM

Join Parent Edge and our friends at Island Books for a discussion of the book Girls with Bright Futures with authors Tracy Dobmeier and Wendy Katzman.

Read the book and join the discussion about this fictional story of college admissions mania on steroids. The lessons of this very entertaining read parallel real life more than we may all want to admit...this book is definitely not a playbook for "how-to" but a cautionary tale.

Presented in partnership with Island Books.
