Who We Are
Mercer Island Parent Edge is a program of the Mercer Island PTA Council. Our members are parent volunteers who work together to bring topics of interest to Mercer Island parents to learn, discuss and create community and connection. MI Parent Edge programs are funded with contributions from each of the Mercer Island PTA units.

Executive Functioning at Home - Part 1 (recorded 4/28/26)
Message from MI Parent Edge and the Special Services and Learning Differences (SSALD) Team:
We want to acknowledge that the first session in this series resulted in some parents feeling more stressed or anxious than before hearing the information. This is not the intent of this Executive Function Series.
We recognize that some of the messaging around screen limits and technology didn’t account for the full range of kids in the room. For families navigating OCD, autism, nonverbal autism, or other complex profiles, blanket advice can land as blame rather than support, and that is not the tone we want to share with parents.
We shared this valuable feedback with the presenter. Our concerns were heard and the next session is intended to recognize that there is no one-size-fits-all answer for our kids. The remaining sessions will offer concrete tools to help you support your child - with the understanding that not all tools will work for every child - and that we are all doing our best to support our kids!
Please join us for the remaining sessions in this series so that we can learn together and support one another.
